High School - Mom on wheels!
My son has absolutely enjoyed school for the first few weeks. I am so happy to just sit back and watch him bloom!
He has been practicing for Marching Band since the last week of July. It really is a family. All of the parents get along, we take care of each other and of the kids. I have been to two football games [yuk - I hate football] and sat with all of the band parents. We cheer as loud as the football parents when the band is on the field!
He is in JROTC and was already appointed a Squad Leader. I think the Colonel recognized the fact that he is a Star Scout and added in the fact that we came to see him in March when we were decided which school he should go to. Nick is disappointed in his squad members because they act up. He told me he is worried that it will reflect on him [is this my kid?].
Marching Band practice is Tue, Wed and Thur after school until 5. On the Friday nights that they don’t have a football game, they practice 5-9 pm. Until the first competition - 10/4 - they are practicing on Sat, too! It has me on the road! I wouldn’t change a thing! He is so happy <3
In addition to all of the Marching Band stuff, he decided he wanted to join the Guitar Club! Guess what day they meet - Mon after school LOL It’s OK, he is loving it.
The stuff we do for our kids.
I have worked concessions for 14 concerts this season at the amphitheater. I am done! This last one was freaking insane! FarmAid! I arrived at 4 pm [well into the line up] and it was NON STOP until 10pm. Six straight hours of faces at my window wanting food or beer. We sold out of almost everything. One lady ordered fries at about 10 pm and wanted some ketchup. The cart was empty and the person that was helping her had stepped to the back to look. While she was gone this crazy bitch was yelling “This place sucks. If I don’t get some ketchup, I want my money back. This place needs to burn to the ground”. Yep, ketchup.
If the money from these concerts doesn’t pay off Nicholas’ band fees [$500] then my husband can write a friggin check for the rest. I have done my time and worked my ass off. I didn’t get home until 3 am Sat night. And did I get to see any of the acts? Hell no. I couldn’t even hear them. The only thing I heard was Neil Young’s harmonica, and that is because I was on break out back. All I wanted to do was see Mellencamp. Nope.
I am still looking for a job. I have applied for 31 jobs since June 1st. I have come really close on only one of them! I have 3 hot hopefuls in the works this week. Please cross your fingers.
Thanks for listening. I miss you all. Life is just too crazy. I have struggled to force myself back into a routine for my school work. I am back on track this week, but I need to stick to it. The vacuum that is tumblr does not help. Also…sleep.
Take care my friends <3 I hope to be back soon.
